BMW Engines for Sale in Dubai
BMW's N-series and B-series engine families cover the majority of vehicles sold in the UAE since 2005, from the compact 1 Series and 3 Series through to the X5, X6, and 7 Series. NMSD supplies genuine (OEM) and quality aftermarket BMW engines for the UAE market from our Al Quoz warehouse, sourced through our international supplier network and from GCC-market donor vehicles where applicable. Every engine we supply comes with a compression test across all cylinders, and we confirm GCC-spec compatibility and VIN match before the unit is collected or delivered to your workshop. We supply engines as long-block assemblies; ancillaries including oil filters, coolant hoses, belts, and gasket sets are available separately.
N20 — 2.0 Turbo 4-Cylinder (2011–2018)
The N20B20 is fitted to the 320i and 328i (F30/F31/F34), 420i and 428i (F32/F33/F36), X3 xDrive28i (F25), X4 xDrive28i (F26), and Z4 sDrive28i (E89). It produces 184 hp in 20i tune and 245 hp in 28i configuration. The N20 is a timing-chain driven engine — the chain and tensioner are documented wear items, particularly in UAE conditions where elevated oil temperatures from sustained high-speed motorway driving shorten tensioner service life. We verify timing chain service history and condition for every N20 we supply. N20 production ended in 2017–2018 when the B48 replaced it across the range; N20 units sourced from European markets are available with documented history.
N46 & N52 — Naturally Aspirated 4- and 6-Cylinder (2004–2015)
The N46B20 (2.0, 4-cylinder) was fitted to the E90 316i and 318i. The N52B30 (3.0 straight-six, naturally aspirated) is found in the E90/E92 325i and 328i, E60 528i, E85/E86 Z4 3.0si, E83 X3 3.0i, and E70 X5 3.0si. Both are robust long-block units; the N52's VANOS variable valve timing solenoids and Valvetronic motor are the most commonly replaced service items rather than the short block itself. When supplying an N52, confirm the build variant: the N52B30 used a composite magnesium/aluminium block from 2006 onwards, which requires specific coolant chemistry and cannot accept the same repair procedures as the earlier all-aluminium block. We verify block type and condition before supplying.
N55 — 3.0 Straight-Six Turbo (2009–2019)
The N55B30 is the most in-demand BMW engine at our Dubai counter. It is fitted to the 335i and 340i (F30/F31), 435i (F32/F33/F36), X5 xDrive35i (F15), X6 xDrive35i (F16), Z4 sDrive35i (E89), and M235i (F22). It produces 306 hp in standard tune. The N55 uses a twin-scroll single turbocharger and Valvetronic direct injection; injector carbon fouling is common after 60,000 km of UAE driving (a result of direct injection without port wash), and VANOS solenoid wear is the most frequent ancillary failure. Compression testing across all six cylinders is standard before we dispatch any N55 unit. When replacing a failed N55, we recommend refreshing the turbo oil feed pipe, injectors, and VANOS solenoids alongside the engine — these items are straightforward to access during the engine swap and are disproportionately costly to address after the engine is back in the vehicle.
N63 & S63 — 4.4 V8 Twin-Turbo (2008–present)
The N63B44 is fitted to the 550i and 650i (F10/F12/F13), 750i (F01/F02), X5 xDrive50i (F15), and X6 xDrive50i (F16). It produces 407–450 hp depending on build date and revision. The N63 uses a "hot-vee" layout where both twin-scroll turbochargers sit inside the vee of the V8 — a packaging solution that concentrates heat at the centre of the engine and accelerates oil coking around the turbo oil lines. The N63 carries a well-documented history of elevated oil consumption on earlier revisions (pre-N63TU2); when supplying an N63, we check for piston ring condition indicators and review available service history for oil consumption records. The S63B44 — fitted to the M5 (F10), M6 (F12/F13), X5 M (F85), and X6 M (F86) — is a higher-output forged-internals variant producing 560–575 hp; S63 units are sourced to order through our network with a longer lead time than standard N63 stock.
B47 & B48 — Modern 4-Cylinder Diesel and Petrol (2015–present)
The B47D20 (2.0 diesel) is fitted to the 318d and 320d (G20/G21), 520d (G30/G31), X3 xDrive20d (G01), X4 xDrive20d (G02), and various commercial platform derivatives. The B48B20 (2.0 turbo petrol) replaced the N20 from 2016 onwards in the 320i and 330i (G20/G21), 420i and 430i (G22/G23), X3 xDrive20i (G01), and 520i (G30). Both are modular units designed on the BMW Group EfficientDynamics architecture, with shared componentry across Mini, BMW, and Toyota partnership applications. B-series engines are relatively recent; units are sourced primarily from accident-damaged vehicles with documented history. Share your VIN to confirm the precise engine variant — early and late B47 and B48 builds introduced revised oil circuits, updated turbo specifications, and different EGR configurations that affect parts interchangeability.
B58 — 3.0 Straight-Six Turbo (2015–present)
The B58B30 is BMW's current-generation 3.0 straight-six, replacing the N55 from 2015. It is fitted to the 340i (F30) and 340i (G20), 440i (F32), 540i and 640i (G30/G32), 740i (G11), X5 xDrive40i (G05), X6 xDrive40i (G06), X7 xDrive40i (G07), and Z4 M40i (G29). In standard tune it produces 335–382 hp depending on revision. The B58 is widely regarded as one of BMW's most robust modern engines; reliability in stock specification is excellent, and the design is tolerant of UAE ambient temperatures when maintained with the correct oil specification and service intervals. The S58B30 — fitted to the M3 (G80) and M4 (G82/G83) — is a higher-output twin-turbo variant producing 480–530 hp; we source S58 units to order. When supplying any B58, we verify compression, oil pressure at temperature, and coolant condition before dispatch.
Engine Swap vs Rebuild
For most N55, N20, N63, and B48/B58 failures in the UAE, swapping to a tested replacement long-block is faster and more economical than rebuilding the original block — particularly when the failure involves a cracked block, spun bearing, seized turbo, or hydraulic lock. Engine rebuilds are most appropriate where the block itself is undamaged and the failure is limited to internal components such as pistons, rings, or bearings on an engine with strong compression readings on undamaged cylinders. Our team can advise on the economics for your specific failure before you commit to a direction. We supply long-block assemblies; turbo units, ancillary brackets, and sensors transfer from the original engine or are available as separate items.
What to Check When Buying a BMW Engine
Compression test results across all cylinders — every engine we sell is tested; ask for the reading sheet. GCC-spec confirmation — European-market engines are generally suitable, but some models have different emissions configurations that affect ECU compatibility; we confirm this at point of sale. VIN match for the engine management system — on most modern BMW engines the DME (engine ECU) is programmed to the original vehicle VIN and will require coding when fitted to a different chassis. We advise on coding requirements for every engine we supply. Oil and coolant condition — we inspect both before dispatch; an engine with clean oil and no emulsification in the coolant is the baseline for any unit we sell.
Do I need to recode the BMW engine ECU (DME) when fitting a replacement engine?
Yes, in most cases. On BMW N55, B48, B58, and N63 engines from 2007 onwards, the DME (Digital Motor Electronics) is programmed to the original vehicle's VIN during production. When the engine is fitted to a different chassis, the DME requires coding to accept the new vehicle's immobiliser and CAS/FEM data. This is carried out by a BMW workshop or specialist using ISTA+ (BMW's dealer diagnostic system) or compatible aftermarket tooling. We advise on coding requirements at point of sale and can recommend Dubai-based coding specialists if needed. For older engines such as the N52, coding requirements are less strict — contact us for specifics on your engine family.
Which BMW engine fits my 335i / X5 35i / M235i?
All three of those models are fitted with the N55B30 in the F-series generation: 335i F30/F31, X5 xDrive35i F15, and M235i F22 all use the N55 3.0 straight-six turbo. The 335i in the earlier E90 generation (2006–2012) also uses the N55's predecessor, the N54B30 — a twin-turbocharged unit. Confirm your model year and body code before ordering: E90 335i takes the N54, F30 335i takes the N55. Share your VIN via WhatsApp and we will confirm the correct engine and check current stock availability.
Can you supply a compression-tested N63 V8 for the 550i or X5 50i?
Yes. We supply N63B44 units for the F10 550i, F12/F13 650i, F15 X5 xDrive50i, and F16 X6 xDrive50i. Every N63 we stock is compression-tested and inspected for the oil consumption and turbo oil line issues documented on earlier N63 builds. We will advise on the revision level of any unit we supply — N63TU and N63TU2 revised engines carry improved piston ring packs and are preferable to first-generation N63 units. Share your VIN for a stock check and current pricing.
Do you deliver BMW engines to workshops across the UAE?
Yes. We deliver BMW long-block engine assemblies to garages and workshops across all seven Emirates — Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah, Ras Al Khaimah, and Umm Al Quwain. For confirmed orders, we coordinate freight to your workshop address or arrange collection at our Al Quoz warehouse. Workshops that supply regular repeat business receive priority processing and dedicated account support. Contact us via WhatsApp with your VIN, engine code, and fault description for a stock check and delivery quote.
Are the BMW engines you supply new, genuine, or remanufactured?
NMSD supplies BMW engines in two conditions: Genuine (OEM) — engine assemblies sourced from GCC-market donor vehicles or through our international supplier network, verified against the OEM part number and confirmed for GCC-spec compatibility — and Quality Aftermarket — brand-new replacement engines manufactured to original equipment specification. We do not supply remanufactured or reconditioned engines. Every unit is compression-tested across all cylinders before supply. The condition tier is stated clearly in every quote. See our parts condition & warranty policy for full detail.
What warranty applies to a BMW engine supplied by NMSD?
All BMW engines supplied by NMSD carry a 30-day fitment warranty. For a long-block engine assembly, the warranty window opens from the date of confirmed installation rather than the date of supply, so workshop scheduling delays do not consume your coverage. The warranty covers mechanical failure of the supplied unit under normal UAE operating conditions; it does not cover damage caused by incorrect installation, inadequate pre-fill of oil and coolant, or failure to address known ancillary faults (turbo oil lines, VANOS solenoids) flagged in our pre-supply advice. Returns require your original order reference and a workshop job card confirming the installation date and details.
How long does it take to source a BMW engine that is not in stock?
Sourcing lead time depends on the engine family and revision. High-demand units — N55B30, N63B44, and B48B20 — are frequently available from our existing stock or through our primary supplier network with a turnaround of two to five business days for confirmed orders. Older or low-volume families such as the N46B20 or M54B30 typically take five to ten business days when sourced from European or GCC markets. S58 and S63 high-performance variants are sourced to order. Share your VIN and engine code via WhatsApp and we will confirm current stock status and lead time before you commit.
What information should I provide to get an accurate BMW engine quote?
The most useful information is your 17-character VIN — this identifies the exact engine family, displacement, output specification, and build-date configuration without ambiguity. If the VIN is not available, the chassis code (e.g. F30, G05), model year, and engine code from the vehicle service record are the next best option. For diagnostic assistance before you commit to a replacement engine, share the fault codes from a BMW-compatible scan tool (ISTA+, VCDS, or standard OBD-II) along with a description of the failure event. Share via WhatsApp at +971 4 380 5318 and we will return a full quote within two business hours.
